The Device system is a new concept that allows you to unlock more power for your legacies as well as making you stronger for all Mystic Gate stages, which are unlocked in Chapter 6.

While you are in a stage, you may see blocks with insignia on them, like this:

When Mystic Gate is turned on for a stage, these blocks will be populated with unique items called “Devices”, which can then be picked up. Once they are picked up, they level up the particular legacy that they look like, making it stronger, or cost less to use. Some of these blocks may have a boss enemy face on them (Dreamer, or one of the Clowns): this means that the boss must be defeated before the block will be cleared. Each Gate Tower is guaranteed to have has single Goddess Feather, which is usually located on the final Clear square of the tower. The only exception to this is Mini (in a Dreamer locked square in the Medal Room) and Petit (in a regular square in front of Pioneer on 2F).

Each Goddess Feather obtained grants you 2 MP on activation of Mystic Gate.
